Starfield: Where To Sell Items, Antiques & Other Stuff

Updated Date :

If you’ve found and collected a lot of stuff while exploring, you may be wondering which are the best places to sell items in Starfield. You can sell items to reward yourself with some Credits. Not only for earning, but it’ll also allow you to discard junk and organize your Inventory more efficiently.

Players like me pick up anything they find like weapons, ammo, packs, and other junk. In some instances, you can also collect Contraband (illegal items) that are difficult to trade. So, it would be great to get rid of such items to lose weight and earn money. In this guide, you will learn how to sell items, Contraband and get the best prices for them in Starfield.

How to Sell Items in Starfield (Best Places)

  • Items can be sold by speaking to a Vendor at any General Shop, Trade Authorities (with a person or Kiosks), Weapon dealers, Gear Stores, etc.
  • So, interact with a Vendor to open up their Buy Menu. After that, simply press the Q button (on PC) or LB (on Xbox) to enter the Sell section.
  • From here, you can sell an item from your character’s Inventory. Luckily, in Starfield, it is possible to sell items from your cargo hold (ship’s Inventory) without bringing them to the Vendor.
  • To do so, you’ll have to press the Q or LB button again to enter the Sell from Inventory tab.

Also, it should be noted that Vendors in Starfield have limited Vendor Credits. It can be seen on the top right corner while in the Buy/Sell menu of a Vendor. That means you won’t be able to sell the bulk of items to a specific Vendor. You will have to visit a new City and talk to a new Vendor for trading items.

How to Sell Illegal Contraband Items

Besides common items like weapons, boost packs, gear, spacesuits, etc., there are Contrabands. For those who don’t know, Contrabands are illegal items like Drugs, Stolen Files, Harvested Organs, etc. Such items are marked with a yellow arrow marker in your Inventory and can be sold at Trade Authorities with an NPC. At first, they will refuse to buy Contraband but those with low morals can be convinced.

While smuggling Contraband items in Starfield, you’ll have to be careful. That’s because you can get hunted when scanned and found with a Contraband Item in your Ship.

How to Get More Credits after Selling an Item

To get more Credits after selling an item in Starfield, you’ll need to unlock the Commerce Skill. You can get this skill only if you have selected the Diplomat Background for your character. With this skill, you’ll get more discounts while purchasing and more Credits while selling items. You can increase the Discount and Sales price after ranking up the Commerce Skill. Here’s how much more you can earn and for how much less you can purchase:

  • Rank 1
    • Buy for 5% less and sell for 10% more
  • Rank 2
    • Buy for 10% less and sell for 15% more
