There are actually two ways to save Vanra in Baldur’s Gate 3. You can either throw the Hag’s Bane potion on Auntie Ethel or simply knock her unconscious. If you use non-lethal attacks, you will avoid going through the long process of brewing the Hag’s Bane potion. After dealing with Non-lethal damage, you will be able to interact with Auntie Ethel’s body and safely remove Vanra from the belly. However, if you are interested in crafting the potion, then follow the steps below.

  1. Go towards the south of the city and look for a creepy house called Old Garlow’s Place.
  2. Now, you will notice a doll on whom you will have to cast the Break Curse spell.
  3. Once you clear the enemies inside, you will be able to unlock a safe.
  4. The wall safe will contain a recipe for the Hag Bane potion and Ashes of Dried Fey Flower.
  5. Use the Dried Fey Flower and any Essence to craft the Hag’s Bane potion.

Now, that you have the potion, go to the Blushing Mermaid cellar to fight Auntie Ethel. To prevent the hag from healing herself regularly, make sure to destroy the three blue mushrooms. You can then throw the Hag’s Bane potion at Auntie Ethel during the battle. Doing so will result in her vomiting up and releasing the poor Vanra.
