Dragon’s Dogma 2 has three different types of saves – Autosaves, Manual Saves, and Inn Saves

Autosaves

As the name suggests, the game will automatically save your progress whenever any major or minor events take place. For example, before or after interacting with important characters or NPCs or before or after a fight. Additionally, you will know when the game autosaves when you notice the orange circle in the corner of your screen.

Manual Saves

To do this, you will have to access the System tab on the pause menu and you will have to select any of these three options –

  • Save and Continue
  • Save and Return to Title Screen
  • Return to Title Screen Without Saving

If you have accidentally clicked on the ‘Return to Title Screen Without Saving’ option, chances are, the autosave system might have already saved the progress you have made.

Inn Saves

As unusual as this sounds, this is the best save option you should resort to at all times. This system can be called ‘semi-permanent’, as when you decide to rest at an inn to restore your health, the game will create a save file.

Additionally, this will not be overwritten by any other save option except for when you decide to reset at an inn once again. Therefore, you will essentially only get one Inn Save. Even though this might seem like the perfect option, staying at an inn is quite expensive, therefore, you might not always be able to afford using Inn Saves.

However, this is still your safest option, especially if you have just achieved a certain milestone or if you are taking a risky decision that could lead to something unfortunate.
