In Helldivers 2, you will often find yourself stuck between an increasing wave of Terminids or Automatons. But with the help of your squad, you can figure out a way to come out of it. However, the “Retrieve Essential Personnel” mission taking place on the Draupnir Planet is a pain and I mean it. Despite playing this mission with their squad, players are unable to complete it. Retrieve Essential Personnel Mission is Extremely Difficult in Helldivers 2
First of all, it is important to know that this mission was introduced with the Automatons invasion event. Wherein, you are given a new Major Order to liberate Planets under siege by this Robot Faction. It is a Defense Campaign wherein you are supposed to save all the victims and fend off Automatons. So during the Retrieve Essential Personnel mission, you are tasked with saving 60 Facility Staff stuck on the Draupnir Planet.
While taking a look at the mission briefing on the Galactic War map, it is said the mission time is 40 minutes. However, as soon as you land on the Planet, the countdown starts for approximately 15 minutes, which I think is a false advertising type thing.
From the moment you step foot on the battlefield, you will face off with a never-ending wave of Bots. Not only that, all kinds of Automatons will show up including Hulks and Tanks. And with the timing reduced to 15 minutes, the task becomes impossible. If you want to put up a tough fight and possibly complete the Retrieve Essential Personnel mission in Helldivers 2, then there are a few things you should try.
How to Complete Retrieve Essential Personnel Mission in Helldivers 2
Firstly, make sure that all 4 teammates are heavily equipped with firepower and Stim. Aside from this, you can call for Stratagems for combat aid. Keep in mind that it is a squad mission, so all four members need to coordinate properly. This includes having each other’s back and even healing other players if necessary.
Next, stick to your primary task and assign one player to unlock the Bunkers in which the Facility Staff have locked themselves. Once unlocked, they will escort themselves to the evacuation shuttle. You will be able to see the count of those who are escorted on the top right corner. Once all the 60 staff members are escorted, go to the helipad and call for extraction. This is when things can go wild as the bots will begin to ambush you the most at this time. So assemble all the teammates on the helipad for maximum effort.
