With the massive changes to skills, equipment, and combat introduced in Cyberpunk 2077’s 2.0 update, any character builds you had optimized in previous saves are now outdated. While you can start a fresh playthrough from scratch, the ability to respec your character provides a more convenient way to adapt V to the new mechanics without losing your progress. This guide will show you how to reset attributes in Cyberpunk 2077.
How to Respec Your Character in Cyberpunk 2077
If you’ve realized you’ve allocated your attribute points or perks incorrectly in Cyberpunk 2077, don’t worry – you can respec your character. There are two ways to respec – resetting attributes and resetting perks.
Resetting Attributes
To reset your attributes, open up your Character screen. In the bottom left corner, you will see a button labeled “Reset Attributes.” Clicking this will refund all your attribute points, so you can reallocate them however you want. But be warned, you can only do this once per playthrough.
Resetting Perks
Resetting your perks is much more flexible. You can refund individual perks as many times as you like. To do this, go into the relevant attribute tab, like Body or Intelligence. Then, click the perk you want to refund using your middle mouse button on PC or the prompted button on controller.
Sometimes a perk won’t let you refund it if another perk is dependent on it. Check for a yellow line between perks – you may need to refund the dependent perk. Your cyberware equipment could also be reducing your stat points too much. Unequip some mods before refunding perks if this happens.
By using these respec options, you can try out different build styles without starting a new game. Just be strategic with your one-time attribute reset.
