As zombies can detect you under close proximity, try to maintain a safe distance and use sneak ability.  Although it covers less distance than the usual walking it is extremely helpful during encounters with large hordes of zombies. Using sneak ability will let you walk slower and attract less attention. It is a slower walk than the usual walk and covers less distance. Sneak ability can also be leveled up like the other abilities in Project Zomboid. The zombies attract noise and to avoid noise, you can level up lightfoot. Lightfoot can be leveled up as you sneak past zombies. This will also level up your sneak ability around zombies. As you level up your sneak ability more, you will be able to slip larger hordes of zombies. While sneak ability can help you run past zombies, you can also evade them by simply running into safe buildings and forests.
