Baldur Gate 3 features a long and engaging storyline which is divided into 3 Acts. Each of these Acts takes place in different locations having its own side quests and other explorable. They are worth completing as you can get some precious rewards from them. But the only thing that can be troublesome here is that there are some Points of No Return in each Act of BG3.
These are the points from where you can not get back to the previous Act’s locations. For some players, it can be concerning as they’d miss out on an opportunity to know the story better through side quests and NPCs. That’s why, we will highlight every point of No Return in Act 1, Act 2, and Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3.
All Points of No Return in Act 1, 2, and 3 of BG3
Whenever you reach an event or quest that’s gonna lock you out of an Act, the game will warn you about it. Choosing to continue after that will transfer all the important NPCs and progress to the next Act as it’s necessary for the story. However, if you back out after this notification, you can still go back and explore the remaining part.
Point of No Return in Act 1
In Act 1, the point of No Return is when you reach the Shadow Lands after passing through Underdark or Mountain Pass. Once you have chosen your path to the Moonrise Towers, you will receive the notification that there is still some unfinished business in Act 1. So it is up to you if you want to head over to Act 2 or stay in Act 1 to complete all the side quests.
If you choose to continue from there, you will still be able to come back to previous areas. But there is a catch. You will only have access to certain quests as most of them will be locked out. That’s because some BG3 Quests are Time-Sensitive, so you will have to complete them while being present in the respective Act.
Point of No Return in Act 2
Act 2’s point of No Return is when you complete the Gauntlet of Shar and proceed to find the Nightsong. At this point, you will be warned as before but this time, all the locations from Act 1 will be locked, except the Shadow Lands.
Point of No Return in Act 3
The point of No Return that will lock you out of Act 2’s location is the Ketheric Thorm Boss Fight. After defeating Ketheric Thorm, you will leave for the Baldur’s Gate and hence, all the previous locations including the Shadow Lands will be locked out. So if you still want to explore Act 2 and complete all its quests, then do it before fighting Thorm at the end of it.
At last, the final Baldur’s Gate 3 point of No Return is when you square off with the Absolute. This is the spot where you come across the Elder Brain and make your final decision. That’s it, that’s the end of the line.
Now that you know about all the Points of No Return in Baldur’s Gate 3, make sure to fully explore all the Acts. And for any other information, we got you covered.
