The happiness of pranking someone will only last for some time though because the character can escape if they struggle for a bit.

You can keep an eye on balloons, talk to villagers or get bottles that wash up on the beach for recipes to craft Pitfall seeds. But at the end of the day, this is random and depends on your luck.
