How to Get Pitfall Seeds in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Published Date :

Have you come across white spheres with exclamation marks on them in Animal Crossing: New Horizons and wondered what they are? They are Pitfall seeds and can come in handy to perform a mischievous act.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Pitfall Seeds Guide

In this guide, you will know all about pitfall seeds – how to get them, craft them and use them.

What are Pitfall Seeds?

Pitfall seeds (or Pitfalls) are troll or prank items that you can use to trap other people temporarily in a hole in the ground. You can target others on your island with this simple practical joke.

How to Use Pitfall Seeds

You can bury a Pitfall seed in the ground and when someone walks over them, they will fall in and get ‘trapped’. It will look like any other buried item (with an X) so your potential victims will not be able to suspect anything. It’s so sneaky that even you can fall victim to your own trap. The happiness of pranking someone will only last for some time though because the character can escape if they struggle for a bit.

How to Get Pitfall Seeds

You can keep an eye on balloons, talk to villagers or get bottles that wash up on the beach for recipes to craft Pitfall seeds. These are some of the things to do everyday in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. By doing this, you can increase your chances of getting a recipe for pitfall seeds. But at the end of the day, this is random and depends on your luck.

There’s another way and that is to dig up a Pitfall seed that you just buried. This will help you to unlock the crafting recipe for it. If you have a friend who already has the recipe for it, it will be even easier for you. Simply ask them to bury one in the ground. Then, you can unearth it with your shovel to unlock the Pitfall seed recipe.

How to Craft Pitfall Seeds

You only need two materials – weeds and tree branches. With 4 clumps of weeds and 6 tree branches, you can craft your very own Pitfall seed and create momentary annoyance for folks on your island.

Pitfall seeds are an interesting way to spice up your Animal Crossing: New Horizons island and have some light-hearted fun. Don’t want to prank someone or fall into your own pit? Maybe you might want to do this at least once. That’s because there are two hidden Nook Miles rewards named ‘Pit-y Party’ and ‘Overcoming Pitfalls’ that can be unlocked with these tasks. Who knew pranking and falling victim to it could have some benefits too?
