Pikmin 3 is a new real-time strategy and puzzle game released for Nintendo Switch. Developed and published by Nintendo, it is a sequel to Pikmin (2001) and Pikmin 2 (2004). An enhanced port for Nintendo Switch has been titled Pikmin 3 Deluxe, which was released on October 30, 2020.

How to Lock-On in Pikmin 3 Deluxe
Both items and enemies in Pikmin 3 Deluxe can be easily locked-on by pressing the ZR button when in range of something. For example: If you come across a flower with pellets, you can walk close to it then press ZR to target it and then keep pressing A to throw Pikmin at it.
This lock-on feature can also be used to target monsters for your Pikmin to attack or charge. For the unversed, you can charge by pressing the X button to make your squad of Pikmin attack towards the direction that you are heading.

This lock-on feature is very important to ensure that you are aiming at the perfect object before you fling your precious Pikmin in the air. If you are careless, it is likely that you will end up sending your Pikmin to death or in the mouth of an enemy.
