Every Potterhead that has read the Harry Potter books and movies is excited to be sorted into a house in Hogwarts Legacy. Similar to Harry Potter getting sorted, you might be confused about choosing the right house. With all four houses having their distinct history, alumni, and elements, the confusion is quite understandable. As each of the Houses offer different experiences depending on this choice, you might need a bit of help with choosing the right one. Not to worry, check out our guide on which house you should choose in Hogwarts Legacy.
Which Hogwarts Legacy House to Choose & Pick
Although the Sorting Hat will choose your house, you will be the one deciding your House in Hogwarts Legacy. You simply need to select the preferable House to spend the rest of your academic year in Hogwarts. As mentioned earlier, each house signifies different elements and values, with their histories. So, here are all four houses:
- Gryffindor
- Slytherin
- Hufflepuff
- Ravenclaw
Let’s delve into more details about each of the above Houses in Hogwarts Legacy.
Gryffindor
Due to Harry Potter lore, books, and movies, Gryffindor has always been considered the house with the most heroic and brave traits. That’s correct as Gryffindor’s house values chivalry, bravery, and determination. If you value some of these traits, this house might be the right pick for you. While the events of Hogwarts Legacy are some decades apart from Harry Potter, you will get to see the Fat Lady and Headless Nick.
The secret Common Room of Gryffindor is behind the portrait of Fat Lady. But the portrait only allows you through, if you have the secret password for the week. Apart from carrying its sigil, you will get to wear its signature golden red robes and scarves.
Slytherin
Often wrongly implied as the wicked or evil house, Slytherin has several self-acclaimed elite students. While this house shares a connection with Lord Voldemort, it also has some of the nicest wizards as its alumni. This includes Leta Lestrange, Horace Slughorn, Severus Snape, and recently Albus Severus Potter. This house values ambition, leadership, cunningness, and resourcefulness topmost. If you admire the courage of Gryffindors but share a deep ambition to be the best, this house might be suitable for you.
The Common room of Slytherin is hidden behind a wall that appears like a normal wall. You need to use the correct password for the regular wall to direct you to a passage. What I love about its common room is the dungeon-like hallway. And some of the areas even direct you underground. Upon choosing this house, you will get to wear signature green and silver attire.
Hufflepuff
With the power struggle between the titular characters from Gryffindor and Slytherin, the other two houses are often ignored. Hufflepuff values hard work, patience, hard work, and fair play. If you admire such traits and qualities, this might be the perfect House for you. Hufflepuff has its fair share of famous as well as great wizards. This includes Cedric Diggory, Nymphadora Tonks, Pamona Sprout, and Newt Scamander.
Its Common Room is the most serene and coziest one out of all. To enter it, you must tap the barrel to the specific rhythm of Helga Hufflepuff. If you don’t know she was the founder of the house of Hufflepuff. Furthermore, you get to wear its signature yellow and black uniform.
Ravenclaw
The students of Ravenclaw are often considered intellectual wits out of all the houses. The Ravenclaw house values wisdom, creativity, curiosity, and intelligence on top. If you are someone who values knowledge and wisdom as a priority, this might be the right pick for you. Ravenclaw has some of the best and worst wizards of all time. This includes Luna Lovegood, Garrick Ollivander, Moaning Myrtle, and Professor Sybil Trelawney.
Breeziest of all the Common rooms, its Common Room is one of the tallest towers in Hogwarts. With a huge circular space and a fireplace, its common room gets you a fantastic view of the Forbidden Forest, Great Lake, and other locations. Upon joining this house, you get to wear its signature bronze and blue robes as well as scarves.
In addition to that, you also get a Companion after choosing or getting sorted by the Sorting Hat. However, it’s not confirmed yet if this companion would be from the same house or another.
