God of War Ragnarok is finally here and so are the amazing gameplay mechanics for Kratos as well as Atreus. If you have played the previous installments, you know that there’s no way to chain Kratos, the Ghost of Sparta. But being an amazing warrior can take a toll sometimes. You need to make sure that your defense is as stronger as the offense. Parrying, blocking, and dodging enemies can help fight hordes of enemies. But how to do so? Check out our guide on how to parry in God of War Ragnarok.
How to Parry in God of War Ragnarok
You can parry your enemies by hitting the L1 button a moment before they come to attack you. As your opponents approach you to attack, hit the L1 button to successfully parry. If you do it right, you can push off your enemies and stun or stagger them for a while. But if done incorrectly, it can result in blocking your enemies or taking some damage from the attack. This depends on the type of attacks and the enemies. Regardless, once you parry them, make sure to maintain a distance.
All Types of Attacks in GOW Ragnarok
As mentioned earlier, parrying depends on the different attacks and enemies. You cannot parry some of the attacks from your enemies in God of War Ragnarok. So, you need to either block or dodge to avoid direct damage. These attacks can be recognized by the color of the rings that indicate their type. You cannot parry the attacks having the Red ring indicators. Although you can block them using the shield to avoid direct damage, it would still cost you some health. The best way to avoid these attacks would be simply dodging your way out of the way.
Another type of attack that you cannot parry is indicated with Double blue rings. You can use a shield to bash your enemies aggressively. For that, double-tap the L1 button to block your enemies. As these attacks can potentially have a larger Area of Effect (AoE), you cannot dodge your way out of this one. But if you break the attack with a shield, it would offer you an AoE that can affect nearby enemies.
You can parry, dodge, and block the Basic attacks that don’t have any indicators highlighted. The attacks with the Yellow ring indicator can also be parried and blocked using a shield. But make sure to parry simply a moment before the direct impact. This timing can differ for different enemies. So, make sure to practice a lot before doing so.
