Once Human: Where to Find Steel

Published Date :

Steel in Once Human is one of the resources that you will need frequently for your crafting tasks. However, you don’t actually find Steel directly – you have to make Steel Ingots which can be used in crafting recipes for weapons with improved damage, ammunition, buildings, and various equipment. Since these are crucial for your survival, here are the locations where you can find the necessary materials.

How to Get Steel in Once Human

To craft Steel, you must first unlock the necessary memetic under Infrastructure, mine ore with a specific tool, and finally create Steel Ingots in the Furnace.

Unlock the Memetic

infrastructure forging techniques memetic

You’ll need the Forging Techniques memetic (found under Infrastructure under Bronze Pickaxes) to unlock the recipe for Steel Ingots which is x5 Iron Ore.

Find Iron Ore

Iron Ore can be found in various locations, but the Iron River area is particularly rich in this material. Be cautious as this region is also populated with stronger enemies.

Get the Bronze Pickaxe Tool

You will need the Bronze Pickaxe to mine Iron Ores, so make sure you have already unlocked the memetic. To craft a Bronze Pickaxe, you need x2 Hide, x5 Logs, and x7 Bronze Ingots. Bronze Ingots can be crafted with x5 Tin Ores, x3 Copper Ores, and x1 Charcoal.

Since you will have to move around various locations, make sure to understand how fast travel works in the game so that you save time. You can also ride your motorbike to cover distances.

Craft Steel Ingots

Use a Furnace for smelting Iron Ore into Steel Ingots. This will also need Charcoal for the process but players who have already unlocked the Electric Furnace can do without the Charcoal.
