These are all the locations in which you can find the Barrel Felynes. They can be a bit hard to spot as they are pretty small in size. Your best bet to find them is to look at all the Catavan Stands in the above-mentioned locations.
Barrel Breakout Quest
This is one of the side quests that tasks you with finding a Barrel Felyne. You can find one in the locations mentioned above. However, you will have a better chance of finding one in Pomore Garden in Lamure.
To complete the quest all you have to do is beat the Barrel Felyne and you will complete the quest.

How to beat the Barrel Felyne in Monster Hunter Stories 2
To beat the Barrel Felyne you will have to switch up and change your tactics. Normal attacks won’t work on the Barrel Felyne. So, you will have to use Barrel Bombs during the fight.
Using these bombs will ensure that the barrel breaks open and that the Felyne is free. You can keep looking for Barrel Felynes as they are a good source of Experience Points.
