The Softlock will come after you beat the first boss in the game. After this you will arrive in Cateris. However, once you get here you will see that most of the loctions in Artaria are blocked off. Also, most of the paths are blocked making them unpassable. This is the Softlock situation in Metroid Dread.

When you will face such an issue in the game make sure that you start taking aim at the floors and walls. Most of the times there will be a situation where the game just has hidden pathways or such. You can also open the map and place a cursor over a specific type of door. Now, when you click the Y button the game will highlight the door. This will show you if something is hidden behind the door.

This is everything that you will need to know about the Softlock block in Metroid Dread. While you are here you can also have a look at How To Win Metroid Dread Robot Chozo Soldier Boss Battle.
