Grow a Garden has added a bunch of new crops, a new weather type, mutations and new items as well and they are the Lightning Rod and Trowel. Here’s a quick guide on what they do and how you can use them to maximize your profits.
How to Get and Use Lightning Rod in Grow a Garden

You can purchase a Lightning Rod from the Gear Shop which is located at the opposite end of the map if you’re standing at the Seed Shop. There is no teleportation button so you will have to walk over to the spot from your Garden.
Similar to the Seed Shop, the Gear Shop also restocks, so you may not see it on your first attempt, but keep checking. The Lightning Rod is a Mythical item and costs a whopping 1,000,000₵. Plus, it is rarely in stock, so if you have the amount saved up, quickly walk over to the shop to snag it before someone else does.
The price makes it tougher for new players to obtain normally, however, if you get gifted high-value crops from friends or neighboring gardeners, it is possible.
The in-game description says that it redirects lightning 3 times before being destroyed. This means whenever the weather changes to thunderstorm, you can focus the lightning that hits your garden to go to your highest value crops. So, if they already have the Wet mutation, and you direct the Shocked mutation onto the crops, their value will significantly increase.
Thunderstorms have a 50% chance to grant the Wet mutation to your crops, and if they are hit by lightning, they get the Shocked mutation, giving it a 50x multiplier to its value. This weather can last for about 1 minute and the lightning frequency is about 4 to 5 seconds.
Since it has a high value and limited uses, make sure to use it only on the crops that can boost your profits a lot.
How to Get and Use a Trowel in Grow a Garden

A Trowel can be purchased from the Gear shop and costs 100,000₵. This helps you replant trees and crops if you change your mind about your garden’s layout, but keep in mind that you cannot move single-use crops. One Trowel has 5 uses and it should be available in stock often.
That’s all for this one. If you’d like to know more about making a lot of money from your harvests and building a thriving garden, here are our guides on getting the Cursed Fruit, Dragon Fruit, Grape, Papaya, Pear, and all the other mutations you can get in the game.
