How To Light A Torch And Use Light Source In Baldur’s Gate 3

Updated Date :

Lighting a torch in Baldur’s Gate 3 will give you the ability to see in the dark. Which is beneficial for the human race, as they don’t possess such abilities. And this will help you explore the areas that you had to give up because of unknown dangers lurking in the dark. Now, getting your hands on a torch isn’t that difficult, you get them as loot and from Merchant. But the game does not clearly state how to light a torch, so here is all you need to do for that.

How to Equip and Light A Torch In Baldur’s Gate 3

Light Torch In BG3

There are two ways to light and use Torches in Baldur’s Gate 3. You can use it through the Melee slot and with the Light Source slot of the character. Read along to learn both ways with a detailed step-by-step guide.

Use Light Source to Light and Use Torch in BG3

  • Go to your Inventory and place the Torch in place of the Light Source.
  • Hold the D-pad Up button and the selected character will switch the weapon to Torch.
  • Use Dip from the bottom.
  • Then right-click on the Torch and select Use.
  • You just have to hold the D-pad Up again to switch back to the weapon.

How to Light a Torch and Use It With Melee in Baldur’s Gate 3

  • First, you can place it in the hands of your party member. Go to Inventory and place Torch in place of Melee.
  • Now select Dip from the bottom.
  • Right-click on the Torch, and choose Use.

When you use this to equip the character with a Torch, it will unequip the weapon or shield from their hands. There are certain weapons and shields that you cannot unequip, but you will see this with a few characters only.

Baldur’s Gate 3 allows you to form a party of different races of characters and each character will bring something new to the adventure that you’re about to set on. You will discover tons of locations as you progress in the game. And that includes pitch-dark Dungeons. So when you can’t see properly, all you need to do is have a lit torch with you. So use any of the methods and embark and explore these areas for interesting items and loot.
