Last Of Us 2: How To Kill Shamblers (Shambler Combat Tips)

Updated Date :

The world of Last of Us 2 is filled with horrific creatures that the player must kill at any cost. There are a few types of enemies in the game (you can read more about them in our TLOU 2 Beginners Guide), and one of them is the Shambler. The Shamblers are a new addition and they are not easy to beat. Their abilities are different which means the way to ensure their demise is different too. In this guide, we will explain how to kill Shamblers in The Last of Us 2.

The Last of Us Part 2: How to Defeat Shamblers

Shamblers are bosses that can absorb a lot of damage and release a poisonous and acidic cloud to burn you as well. They are tall, screeching, infected monsters with a disgusting fungus all over them, especially on their heads. If they end up catching you in a corner, consider yourself done for. So, here are some strategies to beat the Shamblers in The Last of Us 2.

Maintain a Distance

Melee attacks on the Shamblers is not a great idea, especially due to their gas cloud emissions. This deadly cloud also has a big area of coverage, so the best option is to stay a bit far and use ranged attacks. But, the Shamblers are so powerful that even headshots don’t manage to stop them and they will still advance towards you. If you are faced with multiple enemies along with them, things get even more challenging.

Set up Traps to Kill Shamblers

You can use an explosive to disorient and damage the Shambler from a distance. Using Molotov Cocktails will also help. While it’s screaming in pain, unleash bullets to further damage it.

Attack Relentlessly

A few bullets are definitely not going to do the trick so keep shooting at them to weaken them. After quite a lot of shots, they will fall to the ground but they won’t go down without a fight. Remember that the Shambler will release a gas cloud even after it falls, so make sure that you are nowhere near it.

Can you Stealth Kill Shamblers?

You can’t stealth kill Shamblers. The only way to do it is with all guns blazing. They won’t be able to see your light when you are coming towards them, but they will sense your presence. They will chase you and the only way to tackle them is with consistent, aggressive attacks or with smart strategies using traps.

So, this is what you need to know on how to kill Shamblers in The Last of Us 2. For more tips and tricks to be the best at this game, check out our The Last of Us Part 2 Wiki guides.
