Are you wondering what is Item Durability in Diablo 4 and how to repair broken items? Then you are at the right place as this guide is all you will need. If you have played the earlier games in the franchise like Diablo 2 Resurrected, you likely know what item durability is. Since it can be a confusing factor for many players, it is a common question that we have seen pop up. If you are troubled by item durability and want to understand this game mechanic, we recommend you keep reading this guide as we will explain it all below.
What is Item Durability in Diablo 4?
When your character dies in Diablo 4, your gear items will lose 10% durability. Once the durability reaches 0, the item will be termed broken and you cannot use it unless you repair it. Of course, you can salvage the items to get other materials. However, the item simply stays in your inventory. As long as you don’t go and get it repaired, you will simply block your own inventory space.
Currently, the items you collect seem to be starting with a durability of 100. However, it is likely to be changed and updated soon, or else there would be no difference between the rare gear and the common gear. Keep in mind, even rare items will lose their durability if you die too often in Diablo 4.
How to Repair Broken Items in Diablo IV
Now that you know that broken items cannot be used, you would want to know how to repair them. Once you have unlocked the first Blacksmith, simply head over to the Blacksmith and interact with him. From the menu you get, you can select the Repair option near the Salvage menu and then select the item you want to repair. Of course, it will take a certain amount of gold depending on the item. However, it will certainly be worth it if the item is rare. Once you repair the item, you will be able to use it once more.
