You can improve your performance on consoles and PCs by either choosing the Performance or Quality modes in LOTF. It’s recommended to select the Performance mode for increased frame rate at a lower visual quality. In comparison, the Quality mode is preferred for maximum visuals at the cost of reduced frame rates. If your PC doesn’t meet the system requirements, we recommend choosing the Performance mode. It’s also worth noting that the Quality mode in-game also comes at the cost of 30 FPS. For a fast-paced Soulslike game, low FPS could ruin the entire gameplay experience.

So, follow the below steps to select between Quality or Performance in LOTF:

  • Launch the game and head to the in-game Settings.
  • Head to the Graphics tab.
  • Select the Render Mode and toggle the option.
  • Choose between Quality or Performance mode.
  • Then, press the OK button to confirm the option.
  • Lastly, head back to the game and check if you are facing any performance issues.

Aside from selecting these modes, there are also some workarounds to improve your performance in Lords of the Fallen. However, these methods differ for consoles and PC systems drastically.

Boost Performance on Consoles (PS5 & Xbox Series X|S)

Turn on the Variable Refresh Rate

Here’s a workaround that may help you upscale the resolution without facing any lags or performance issues.

For that, follow the below steps on PS5:

  • Head to the Settings and select the Screen and Video.
  • Select the Video Output tab.
  • Toggle and tick the VRR option.
  • Then, launch the game to check if you are still experiencing any issues.

For Xbox Series X|S

Follow the below steps:

  • Head to the Settings and select the General tab.
  • Select the TV and Display options.
  • Then, select the Video modes under the Advanced section.
  • Toggle and tick the Allow Variable refresh rate option.
  • Lastly, launch the game to check if the performance issues persist.

Boost Performance on PC

Clear Background Tasks

Certain running programs or applications can interfere with the game as you play Lords of the Fallen. For example, Chrome can take up too much of your RAM due to multiple tabs.

  • Press the CTRL + Shift + Esc button at once to launch the Task Manager.
  • Select the apps or programs that take too much of your RAM space.
  • Finally, press the End Task option to clear them out.

Clear Overlays

Similarly, you can also face performance issues in Lords of the Fallen due to running overlays. These include the Discord, Razer, Nvidia, Steam, and more. We suggest disabling all these overlays. Then, launch the game to check if you are still encountering issues.

Change Graphics Settings

If none of the above workarounds work out, you can change the in-game Graphics settings to resolve these issues. Here’s our recommended graphics to get more FPS:

  • Graphics Preset: Custom
  • View Distance: Medium
  • Shadows: Medium
  • Anti-aliasing: Medium
  • Texture quality: Medium
  • Visual Effect quality: Low
  • Post-processing quality: Medium
  • Reflection quality: Medium
  • Global Illumination quality: Low
  • Foliage quality: Medium
  • Motion Blur: Off
  • Film Grain: Off
  • Chromatic Aberration: Off
  • DLSS/FSR: Performance
  • Resolution: Depending on your monitor
