Dead Rails has a variety of mechanics you should know—to fight enemies, to heal yourself and to protect your train as it travels across the harsh landscape. For this purpose, you need to know how to weld and ‘unweld’ items to your train in Dead Rails to stay safe and take down enemies behind some cover.
How to Weld and Unweld in Dead Rails
Let’s take an example where you have purchased Barbed Wire to deal some damage to enemies who try to get in. You can buy it from the General Store for $20 and click and drag it towards the train. Choose a location where you want to stick it and press Z to weld it on your train.
You can also weld a Sheet Metal to barricade your train because of its bulletproof nature. Place it in a way that deters enemies from getting into your train but also while giving you a cover to shoot them from a distance.
Similarly, you can weld a Newspaper that you may find at the initial location as well as towns further ahead. If you want to change its spot or position, you can unweld it by clicking on the item, and pressing Z to unweld. Players will be able to see the prompt at the bottom right corner of the screen.
Make sure to always weld to lock the items on the train because without it, there’s a high chance of it falling off. This causes monetary loss and creates safety issues if it turns to night and you lose fuel, effectively stranding you midway.
That’s everything about sticking items to the train for defensive reasons. If you’d also like to know more about the Fort Constitution area, how to make money fast, open the bank vault and get more weapons, check out our guides on Gamer Tweak.
