Trading is such an important part of Pokemon Go, and knowing how to trade can help you immensely. The game possesses a unique trading system, which enables you to swap Pokemon with friends. If you are new to the game, however, understanding this system can be quite tricky. To help solve your dilemma, we have got just the guide for you. Here, we will walk you through the trading system in Pokemon Go and how to swap characters with your friends. Before you begin, though, please note that you can only trade if you have a minimum trainer level of 10.

In order to trade in Pokemon Go, you will need to share your Trainer Code with your friends. The Trainer Code is a unique 12 digit number. To find it, simply head into the Trainer section under the Friends tab.

Once you add your friend and ensure that they are within 100 meters of your current location, you can start trading with them. To do so, simply open the Friends tab by going to the Trainer profile and then clicking on the friend you choose to trade with.

Now, click the Trade button to ask your friend to join the trade. Next, pick the Pokemon card you wish to trade. This screen will also show you helpful data and info like CP, HP, and more. To confirm the trade, simply click on Confirm. You will now be able to view the required Stardust to complete the trade.

What are Evolution Trades in Pokemon Go?

While evolution through training was something that was only available to players of mainline Pokemon games, things have changed in Pokemon Go. We have included a list of Pokemon that you can evolve by trading them.

    POKEMON EVOLUTION
    Shelmet Accelgor
    Boldore Gigalith
    Gurrdurr Conkeldurr
    Kadabra Alakazam
    Pumpkaboo Gourgeist
    Machoke Machamp
    Karrablast Escavalier
    Graveler Golem
    Haunter Gengar
    Phantump Trevenant

Trading Pokemon that evolve during the trade process results in no spending of candy. Now, let us take a look at the influence of factors such as candy, friends, and stardust in trading Pokemon.

How do Candy, Stardust, and Friends Affect Trading?

As we mentioned earlier, trading in Pokemon Go requires Stardust. However, the cost of this Stardust depends hugely on your friendship level. For example, a 1,000,000 Stardust cost for a Special Trade will drop down to just 800 Stardust if you and the other player are Best Friends. Initiating a trade with a friend only requires a Friendship Level of 1. Getting to the Best Friends level will take a time period of around 90 days. However, there are other levels before Best Friends, and these include the likes of Good, Great, and Ultra friends. While getting to Good Friends only takes 1 day, Ultra Friends needs a time period of 30 days.

You can increase your friendship level by carrying out activities like gifting your friends. To do so, join forces in Raids and Gyms among others. You can give 1 gift to a friend per day.

Additionally, you can increase the potential to earn more candy if there is a great distance between the Pokemon you catch. The limit for this distance is 100 KM.

And that’s it. All you need are these simple steps and you will find yourself trading Pokemon with your friends in no time at all! As you can see, this process is extremely easy as long as you follow the right steps. As we mentioned earlier, make sure your trading partner and you are at a minimum distance of 100 meters, and you should be good to go!

And now that you know all about trading, take a look at our Pokemon Go Guides.

Nope, Titus isn't as serious as this picture implies. Began calling himself a gamer after burning his eyes out playing Road Rash as a kid. Somehow manages to get headshot in a game of Counter Strike even before a round begins. Oh, and he's also a photographer.
