Wondering how to install Valheim mods? Then let us show you how it is done. Modding has always been an ever-present part of PC gaming – whether for good or bad. The Valheim developers Iron Gate don’t officially support modding, but that doesn’t mean it’s illegal. The modding community is actually doing its bit to improve the overall gameplay in Valheim. So, if you want to check out some cool mods but don’t know how to install them, then our guide will help you out.
Disclaimer: We don’t support the use of mods that can give players an unfair advantage. Since Valheim is not a competitive multiplayer game, you need not worry. However, be advised, installing mods can sometimes be harmful to your PC.
How to Install Valheim Mods
If you want to install Valheim Mods, make sure you already have the BepInEx Pack and Vortex mod manager installed. BepInEx acts as the general-purpose framework for modding. Also, make sure to back up your saved files from Valheim in case of any unforeseen circumstances. Without further ado, here is how to download these tools:
- First, go to the download page of BepInEx Pack for Valheim.
- Once the download is complete, paste the zip files into your Valheim folder.
- Next, you will need to download the mod manager Vortex.
- After the installation is done, you will need to move it to “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Valheim”.
- You will also need Unstripped DLLs, so make sure to download them as well with Vortex.
Once you have done the above steps, now comes the important part – how to install Valheim Mods.
How to Add Mods to Valheim
You can find several Valheim mods available to install from here. Before downloading any mod, you will have two download options – either through Vortex or manually. We’d recommend that you avoid doing the latter. Vortex will make the entire downloading and installation of the mods look seamless. That’s it, just launch Valheim and you will notice your newly downloaded mods taking effect!
