Before we go into our pick of Guard Dog or Rover in Helldivers 2, understanding how each Drone works will help you choose yours. While both Guard Dog and Guard Dog Rover are equally amazing, the Rover has a slight advantage over the other and you will understand that as you learn more about them. The positioning of your teammates is key to using either of the Drones since it can lead to unwanted consequences.

Guard Dog

The Guard Dog drone is equipped with a Liberator Assault Rifle and is quite useful to provide Support for your teammates. It works like a medium Turret would and takes on any threats that get close by. With a full 360-degree coverage, it is very useful as a drone to take down enemies.

  • Drawback – Once the ammo depletes, it will return to the player’s backpack for resupply. While you can call on another Guard Dog supply quickly, there is a bit of time-lapse in the middle which can be dreadful.

Guard Dog Rover

Guard Dog Rover is an automatic drone that is equipped with a laser rifle that can take down enemies nearby. Much like the Guard Dog, you can fire at your enemies with a full 360 degree coverage and it does not need maintenance or recharging as often as the other Guard Dog.

  • Drawback – Rover is more prone to firing at teammates who are in its range. Although Guard Dog does not completely remove this issue, the scope of friendly fire there is lower than Rover.

Although Rover does have an issue of friendly fire, it makes up for it with its ability to kill enemies nearby and provide support for your teammates. Players can use the necessary Stratagem Codes and call on it once they have unlocked the Rover.

That’s all we have from this guide. Hopefully, it helps you make the decision of picking Guard Dog or Rover in Helldivers 2 easily. For more Helldivers 2 coverage, do check out our other guides in our dedicated section here at Gamer Tweak.
