The Zen Egg is a legendary egg introduced in the Zen Update (July 19–26, 2025) in Grow a Garden. Available in the event shop in exchange for Chi, it has a 4 hr and 10-minute hatch time. This egg offers six unique pet hatches with powerful passive abilities that boost your garden in different ways…well, except one. Here’s what you need to know about all the pets.
How to Get Zen Eggs in Grow a Garden?
You can obtain Zen Eggs by purchasing them from the in-game Zen Shop for 30 Chi. The shop refreshes hourly, so if you don’t see it in stock, you can wait and check again. You can also click on the Restock button and spend 500K Sheckles to see it refresh.
Zen Egg Pets and Their Passives
Here’s a breakdown of each pet, showing chances and passives:
Shiba Inu (Uncommon) — 40% chance
Every ~58 seconds, it has a ~15% chance to dig up a random seed. This is good for newer players who are focused on passive seed collection.
Nihonzaru (Rare) — 32% chance
If a Hot Spring cosmetic is placed in your garden, it bathes in it and boosts passives of other pets slightly. It works as a synergy booster for other good pets that you have applied to your garden.
Tanuki (Legendary) — 20% chance
Occasionally runs around and causes garden mischief. It’s just for fun and has no gameplay boost as of now.
Tanchozuru (Legendary) — 4.4% chance
Every ~10 min 24 s, meditates for ~10s and the gruits within ~15.2 studs have a 5.11% chance per second to mutate into Tranquil. This pet is ideal for farming Tranquil fruits during Zen Aura.
Kappa (Mythical) — 3.5% chance
Every ~7.58 seconds, it sprays water on fruits within ~25.6 studs, applying the Wet (x2) mutation. It also has a chance to upgrade Wet to Bloodlit (x5) mutation, boosting fruit value.
Kitsune (Prismatic, extremely rare) — 0.08% chance
Every ~22 minutes, it visits another player’s fruit, applies a Chakra mutation (x15), and duplicates the fruit. It also rarely applies the powerful Foxfire Chakra mutation (x90) which provides a massive productivity boost.
So, depending on your requirement, you can go for Tanchozuru if you want the mutation, Nihonzaru for synergy with other pets and of course, the Kitsune which is the rarest pet in Grow a Garden right now.
