Having a blinged-out gun is a big part of shooting games and if you have your sights set on the shiny skin, then you can unlock and get a gold camo by completing some challenges in MW2. Camos will not only get you bragging rights but also provide awesome customization options for your weapon. How to Unlock Gold Camo (Completionist) for your Weapon in COD MW2
Every gun (except launcher weapons) has 4 unique Base Camo challenges that you have to complete. More camo challenges get unlocked as you level up the weapon. Complete them and get that particular camo as a reward. When you do them all, you will unlock the task for the Gold Mastery camo for your specific gun in Modern Warfare 2.
How to See Camo Challenges
You can find the Base and Mastery Camos via the Gunsmith menu:
- Open up COD Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer mode.
- Click on your Multiplayer loadout.
- Click on your Custom Loadout to edit it.
- Now choose your weapon and click on the Gunsmith (Build/Customize) button.
- Hit the Customize menu option at the top and check out the camos from here.
Since the M4 is one of the most popular weapons, here are the levels where you can unlock camo challenges:
- Scales – Get the M4 to Level 2 to unlock challenge
- Desert Hybrid – Get the M4 to Level 8 to unlock challenge
- Dark Leaves – Get the M4 to Level 13 to unlock challenge
- Urban Renewal – Get the M4 to Level 19 to unlock this challenge
Keep in mind that this process can be a grind. For example, one challenge will require you to get 50 kills with the M4, 50 kills while ADS with the M4, 10 Double Kills with the M4, and 15 kills from behind with the M4. Then, to unlock the gold skin for the M4, you must get 3 kills without dying 10 times with the M4.
Now as you can tell, unlocking Completionist Mastery camos may be too easy or too tough depending on the type of player you are, the amount of time you have, and your overall skills. If you are a player who loves the grind, you will unlock it faster than someone who may be a casual player. But the best part is that it’s not tedious and unachievable to a casual player because there’s a chance you may do the challenges in normal matches without going out of the way for them.
If you wish to unlock the gold skin for your other weapons, you have to follow the same steps again – unlock and complete the camo challenges and then finish the Gold camo mission to finally get it.
