Similar to almost every main Zelda title, players have a chance to get Epona in Tears of the Kingdom. If you have played previous Zelda games like Twilight Princess or BOTW, you know that getting Epona via Amiibo is the easiest option. Even though getting or finding this legendary horse has a few downsides, getting Epona does add a nostalgic touch for some Zelda players. But how to summon or ride Epona? And do we find her with all the stats maxed out? Check out our guide on how to get and use Epona in Zelda: TOTK to find out.
How to Get Epona in Zelda TotK (Tears of the Kingdom)
There are mainly two ways to get Epona in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. You can get her by using the amiibo or the save file of Zelda: BOTW. You can only use the Super Smash Bros. Link or the Twilight Princess Link amiibo to summon her. Luckily, for players who cannot access amiibo, you can also use the save file for Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
So, let’s delve deeper into the above two methods to get Epona horse:
How to Use Amiibo for Epona in TOTK
As mentioned earlier, you can use either of the two amiibo to get Epona in Zelda: TOTK. You can use this functionality only once per day. But as using the amiibo also offer other rewards, you might not get this horse every time. However, there is a chance to get two Eponas using amiibo.
You can unlock the amiibo functionality after completing the prologue and entering the Hyrule Kingdom. Then, you can use the amiibo ability from your ability wheel. Note that once you summon Epona, you must visit a closeby Stable to register her, or else she can disappear.
How to Get Epona using BOTW Save
You can find Epona already registered if you have a saved file for Zelda: BOTW while playing on the same Switch. So, visit a stable and speak to the owner at the counter to access this horse. As you speak with the owner, you will find and get Link’s beloved horse immediately.
Aside from the above methods, there is no way to get or ride this legendary horse across the Hyrule kingdom. So, we suggest Zelda players don’t sweat about finding her in-game.
How to Use Epona in Zelda TOTK
As Epona is an already tamed horse, you don’t have to hop on the legendary horse stealthily. When summoned using an amiibo or via the BOTW save file, you will find all of her stats maxed out. She also has a gentle temperament and a maximum bond with Link.
The only downside to using Epona in Zelda: TOTK is that she cannot be pulled. So, you cannot equip the Towing Harness with this legendary horse. Further, you cannot upgrade this horse by visiting Horse God. But like BOTW, she arguably remains the best horse in Tears of the Kingdom for Zelda players.
