Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are the latest installments to the game series by Game Freak. This game has brought many changes to its mechanics. While some are completely new like Terrastillizing, others have a slight change to preexisting mechanics. Breeding has always been a prominent part of Pokemon games. But unlike its predecessors, this game has a completely different mechanic on how you can breed Pokemon. In this article, we will tell you how to get eggs and breed in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
How to Get Eggs and Breed in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
In previous installments of this game, you had to visit the Daycare Centers to breed Pokemon. However, in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you can get eggs and breed Pokemon by using the new Picnic system. Many players found this method easier and faster. Let’s break down the steps to breeding.
How to Breed Pokemon
First, you need two Pokemon (a male and a female) or a Pokemon and a Ditto in the same Egg Group. Then to breed Pokemon, you have to set up a Picnic by finding a flat surface, going to your Main Menu, and selecting Picnic. That’s it. Now, you can idly wait and check the Picnic basket often. There’s a chance that the Pokemon will breed drop eggs there. You can also breed multiple Pokemons at once by leaving Ditto in the Egg Group with five other Pokemon.
Get Eggs by Making Sandwiches
Sometimes, you won’t get a single egg on a picnic. But, you can increase the chances of getting eggs by making Sandwiches. In the recipes, look out for a Meal Power called the “Egg Power”. You can get the ingredients for these recipes at Food Shops in Mesagoza. The Egg Power level determines how fast you will get eggs in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Sandwiches like Great Peanut Butter Sandwich and Dessert Sandwich have Egg Power.
The process of hatching eggs is similar to the previous installments. You have to travel a certain distance for the eggs to hatch. You can also add a Flame-buddy Pokemon to your party to help hatch the egg faster.
