Fallout 4 Purple Characters and Objects Error

Fallout 4 players are facing different types of bugs while playing the game and it could be something to do with the DLCs. If the characters, objects, and texture appears Purple in the game, this guide will help you with the issue.

There are a few DLCs that are currently bugged and are causing errors including crashes. If they do not lead to a complete crash, you might find that the textures, characters, and objects are purple in Fallout 4 and that can really affect your game time. Since players are looking for a way to fix the issue, this guide will show you the workaround that will get you back to playing the game normally.

Although a permanent fix is yet to be made available, there is a patch soon to launch that might fix the issues with the DLC. In the meantime, players would want some troubleshooting tips that would solve the problem temporarily and allow them to play. While we have tried many things with our PS5, only one option comes to mind that seems to be working.

The best way to get rid of the error where characters and objects are purple in Fallout 4 is to remove the DLC packs that might be causing trouble. So far, the Wasteland Workshop DLC, Automatron DLC, and Nuka World are the ones that are currently broken and players can play the game normally if they remove these DLCs. While it is annoying to remove an expansion that you paid for, at least you can play the game.

Sadly, there are a few Mods that might also be affecting the game along with those DLCs and it is best that you remove them quickly. There are many mods available for the game so it is hard to point the finger on which ones would crash the game or change the textures so we recommend you remove all of them whilst you try to fix the issue.

How to Remove DLCs on PS5

These are the steps that you need to follow to delete a DLC in Fallout 4:

  • Hover to the Fallout 4 game from your home screen and then press the Options button.
  • After that, select the Manage Game Content.
  • Now, select the DLC that you want to delete and then hit the Delete option.
  • Exit the menu ad then launch the game again.

If you cannot Delete any DLC this way, there is another way that you can use. Here’s what you need to do:

  • Delete the game and then head to the PlayStation store to re-download it.
  • After you start the download, you will get a window where you will find all DLCs that you can download with the game.
  • You will have to manually untick the DLC that you don’t want in the game and then start downloading.
  • Make sure that you disable auto updates from Settings to avoid getting the DLC later on.

How to Delete DLC on Steam

Since you want to avoid characters and objects turning purple in Fallout 4, this is how you can remove bugged DLCs via Steam:

  • Head to Steam and then right-click on Fallout 4.
  • Next, select Properties and then head to the DLC section.
  • From this window, players can choose to untick and remove the DLCs and then Steam will update the game on its own.

The patch will be released soon and hopefully, that will solve the issue but in the meantime, this method should help you get rid of the issue where characters and objects are purple in Fallout 4. If it does not, you can contact Bethesda Support to get more assistance.
