In Fisch’s Mariana’s Veil expansion, Scylla appears as a challenging boss, and if you want to ultimately catch Scylla, defeating it first is necessary. He can be located in Veil of the Forsaken which takes quite some time to reach due to the quests to complete as a prerequisite. Here’s everything you need to do to find Scylla, beat it and catch it.
Finding the Scylla Boss in Fisch
To fight Scylla, players must first unlock the Veil of the Forsaken. This process involves navigating through the Calm Zone and solving a specific puzzle.
First, complete the stone obby located at the south end of the Calm Zone and soon you will come across a Gate.
Catching 3 Secret Fish: Magma Leviathan, Frozen Leviathan and Crowned Anglerfish are the secret fish you need to catch to open the gate which will let you fish in the Rainbow Pool. This is where you can complete the Calm Zone bestiary.
Solving the Scylla Puzzle: Within the Calm Zone, locate four statues. Interact with each by pressing ‘E’ until they emit a green glow. This must be done for all statues within a one-minute timeframe. Quick movement between statues is important.
Upon solving the puzzle, a gate opens, revealing a portal to the Veil of the Forsaken. This is where you will encounter the boss fight against Scylla.
Defeating Scylla
The battle with Scylla is a timed encounter, requiring both strategy and speed:
Collecting Ancient Weapon Parts: Scattered around the arena are three highlighted components: the Base, Bow, and Arrow. Players must gather these parts while evading Scylla’s fiery attacks. Using the Advanced Glider will come in handy and stop you from falling into the water. The Suit Level 3 is also required. Make sure to keep moving so that the fireballs don’t actually hit you.
Assembling the Crossbow: After collecting all parts, proceed to the construction site located above the entrance gate. Here, assemble the crossbow by depositing the collected components.
Avoiding Attacks: Throughout the assembly process, keep an eye out for Scylla’s projectiles and avoid getting hit.
Here’s a visual guide:
When you assemble the crossbow, a cutscene is triggered and you defeat Scylla. Now, you will be able to get started with the Veil of the Forsaken bestiary as well as get the change to catch Scylla during a specific in-game event.
Catching Scylla (Hunts)
Post-defeat, Scylla becomes a catchable entity under certain conditions:
- Location: Veil of the Forsaken
- Bait: Shark Head
- Time/Weather/Season: Scylla can be caught at any time, in any weather, and during any season.
Given Scylla’s rarity and size, it’s recommended to use high-resilience rods to increase the chances of a successful catch. Scylla can be caught during hunts, similar to The Kraken or Megalodon Hunt. Only one player can catch it so make sure you are equipped with a fast rod. The hunt will stay for 15 minutes and Sundial Totems can be used to make Scylla spawn.
