If you are looking for some rare metals, you should enter the Pit of Artificers in Diablo 4. Season 4 finally gives players plenty of end-game content to enjoy. Those who played the third game of the series can think of these pits as Greater Rifts. You can change tiers of the Pit to make it harder in exchange for more rewards. The goal is to beat the boss as fast as you can to get special unique metals. So if all this sounds tempting here is how you can activate the Pit of Artificers in D4.
How to Unlock Pit of Artificers in Diablo 4
You need at least 3 Runeshards in order to open the Tier 1 of Pit of Artificers. While this may sound easy it does have two prerequisites that you need to meet for it to work.
The first is that you have to play the game on World Tier IV (Torment) which happens to be the hardest difficulty in the game. Next, you need to complete any Nightmare dungeon of Tier 46 or above. Once you meet both these requirements all that is left to do is hunt Runeshards, since you need them for the portal to activate. Some sources from where you can obtain them include:
- Whisper Caches
- Helltide
- Legion Chests
- Nightmare Dungeons
- World Bosses
After you have the Runeshards ready here is what you do:
- Open the map and go to Cerrigar.
- Here, go northwest and interact with the Portal Activator (Artificer’s Obelisk).
- Next, spend these Runeshards and the Pit will ask you for a confirmation of if you would like to activate the Pit.
- Choose Accept.
- Next, click on the newly opened Portal to enter the Pit.
- Finally, defeat the boss here without dying as much as possible.
As soon as you enter the Pit a timer will start. Fight all the enemies here and beat the boss without dying to get the most rewards. An important thing to remember here is the more you die the more seconds you lose. This impacts how long it will take for you to unlock other Tiers. For your rewards, depending on the Tier of your Pit, you can get:
- Stygian Stones
- Obducite (Magic Crafting Material)
- Ingolith (Rare Crafting Material)
- Neathiron (Legendary Crafting Material)
Finally, use these materials on your gear to upgrade them. As for Stgyian stones, you can use them to spawn a level 200 version of any end-game boss of your choice.
