Bungie is making some technical changes with the release of Destiny 2: Beyond Light. This means that the players have to redownload the entire game again.
In a few months, a new expansion for Destiny 2 will appear with Beyond Light. The responsible developers at Bungie have now revealed a few more details, mainly dealing with the technical changes. Among other things, one will be able to experience a dynamic weather system on the planet Europe, so that one does not only have to deal with snow.
Furthermore, the character-face system has also been rebuilt so that your guardians could look a little different from Beyond Light. Bungie wants to give players more freedom and customization in this regard. The lighting in parts of the ETZ and the Nessus has also been updated, so you should also notice some changes visually.
However, one should be aware of another change. The developers have redesigned content creation and patching paths to improve speed and installation size. However, this has the consequence that you have to download the full game again at the release of Beyond Light.
The official blog states: “Due to all these changes, Beyond Light will be a full re-download on all platforms – we know this will be painful for those with slower or metered internet connections, and we’re sorry about that. To help mitigate this, we’re planning to enable Beyond Light preloads sometime in the evening of November 9, Pacific Time, which should give everyone at least 10 hours to download before the gates open.”
This should shrink the installation size of Destiny 2 by 30% to 40%, as unused or replaced content is sorted out, the installation sizes are optimized and some content is moved to the Destiny content vault. Depending on the platform, the installation size should drop to 59 to 71 GB. Further statements can be found on the official blog.
“Destiny 2: Beyond Light will be released on November 10, 2020, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia.
