With the full release of Darkest Dungeon 2, many players want to transfer their save files from Epic Games to Steam. This is mainly because players don’t use the Epic Games Store for playing DD2. Or if you own Darkest Dungeon 2 on Steam. But does it require manually copying or pasting the Epic Games Store’s save files? Is there a way to save your game progress on both platforms? Yes, there is an easier method to continue your game progress on both platforms. So, check out our guide to find out everything about how to transfer saves from Epic to Steam.
How to Transfer Darkest Dungeon 2 Saves from Epic to Steam
If you have bought the Steam version of Darkest Dungeon 2, your save files from the Epic Games Store will be automatically transferred. As confirmed by the devs on Twitter, no copying or pasting is required. Being an automatic process, your saves will be transferred as soon as you boot up the DD2. Likewise, if you launch the EGS version of Darkest Dungeon 2 first, your Steam saves will be synced automatically.
But note that this automatic process only occurs during the first boot–up. If you are using the EGS version while playing the Steam version, your in-between progression will be lost. So, you must manually save those save files. After manually saving the Epic save files, launch the Steam version first for transferring them into Steam.
Throughout the gameplay, we recommend playing the official DD2 version that you own. Rather than manually saving your game progression, using the owned copy on Steam or Epic is a better alternative.
