The Sakurajima update brought along new elements—we have the Medal Merchant who takes Dog Coins in exchange for items, and we also have Crude Oil. While you can go to certain locations to find Crude Oil in small quantities, players can build farming bases to get a consistently supply.
Where to Find Crude Oil in Palworld
Crude Oil can be mostly found in the north-western region of the Palworld map near the Mushroom Wetlands, Dancing Sakura Shrine and some near the Northern Rock Field. They are visible here as brown spots; more places may be added in the future but for now, this is the only island location where you can get this resource.
Apart from collecting oil here, you can also get it as a drop from Pals like Kikit as well as Sootseer. If a Kikit is in your team, its Rollin’ Full Oil partner skill will help lower the weight of Crude Oil in your inventory.
Lastly, you can head to Sakurajima island and find chests/boxes which will have multiple supplies including Crude Oil.
How to Harvest and Extract Crude Oil?
You need two things for Crude Oil extraction — a Crude Oil Extractor and a Large Generator.
The Oil Extractor will be used to remove oil from the Oil Field but after placing it, you will also see a ‘Not Enough Electricity‘ notification. This means, you also require a Large Generator to generate electricity and supply power.
Players can craft the Crude Oil Extractor with x250 Pal Metal Ingots and x50 Circuit Boards. Before this, you need to get to level 50 and you need 2 Tech Points to craft the extractor.
Circuit Boards can be crafted with x4 Pure Quartz and x2 Polymer at the Production Assembly Lines.
Now for the power supply. You can craft the Large Power Generator with x200 Pal Metal Ingots and x200 Electric Organs. The required level is 49 and the amount of Ancient Technology Points are 4.
Electric Organs are dropped from Electric Pals like:
- Beakon
- Dazzi
- Grizzbolt
- Helzephyr Lux
- Jolthog
- Mossanda Lux
- Orserk
- Rayhound
- Relaxaurus Lux
- Sparkit
- Univolt
Do note that you will need a powerful electric Pal to ensure this works, and the Pals have to be of Lv. 3 or higher. So go for Relaxaurus Lux, Grizzbolt and/or Orserk to get the Crude Oil extraction up and running. You are then ready to craft weapons like the Flamethrower Fuel, Missile ammo and Frag Grenade Mk2.
