Dealing with hunger is one of the mechanics of Sons of the Forest, that’s why you need to know how to cook and eat food. There are multiple ways to find and eat food in this game. After crashing in the forest, you will need to survive for a long time. Let’s take a look at how you can stop yourself from starving to death by finding or cooking food.
How you can Cook and Eat Food in Sons of the Forest
After initially exploring the forest and getting your bearings, you’re going to want to eat some food. There are two main ways to satisfy your hunger:
- Canned Food
- Cooked Food
Canned Food
The first and easiest way to eat food in Sons of the Forest is by eating Canned Food. If you looted your crash site enough, you might even already have some in your inventory. If not, the crash site is the easiest place you can get Canned Food initially. You can also find it at a nearby base camp if you follow the river.
To eat the Canned Food, open your inventory by pressing the “I” key. Then, right-click on the Canned Food and also Can Opener. After that, click on the gear icon. This will result in you eating the contents of the Canned Food.
Cooked Food
Making Cooked Food isn’t as simple as getting and eating Canned Food. To cook food, you are required to make a Basic Fire or Reinforced Fire. But first, you will need to hunt down something that you can eat. The most common and easy thing to hunt and kill is the rabbit.
Once you have found a rabbit, chase after it and land a direct hit on it with your Axe. After it is killed, hold the “E” key to take a portion of its meat. Next, head back to where you have made your fire. Press “E” to open a part of the inventory and select Raw Meat. Now you just have to wait for it to cook. Once it is properly cooked, just pick it up and you can start eating it.
