In this article, we will tell you how to change the Tera Type in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
How to Change Tera Type in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV)
In order to change the Tera Type in this game, you can visit the chef at the Sushi Bar in the Treasure Eatery. Simple as that. But first, you will have to beat Gym Leader Larry at the Medali Gym. He uses Normal-type Pokemon which are at level 35. So, make sure your Pokemon are around this level before challenging this gym. After defeating Larry, head over to the sushi bar in the Treasure Eatery. There, the chef will ask you if you want to change your Pokemon’s Tera Type. You will need 50 Tera Shards of a certain type. But as a tutorial, the chef will give you Normal Tera Shards the first time you visit. Later on, you can get Tera Shards by taking part in Tera Raid Events. To change the Tera Type:
- Hand over the Tera Shards to the chef
- Select which Pokemon’s Tera Type you want to change. And that’s it.
- Then, in a battle, you will get an option to Terastillize by pressing the R Button.
Why Change Tera Type?
In traditional Pokemon battles, you had to be wary about the type of Pokemon you choose. For instance, if you fought a Fire-Type Pokemon with a Grass-Type, then your loss would be assured. However, with this new mechanic, you can change your Grass-Type to a Water-Type, which is strong against Fire-Type Pokemons. The introduction of this mechanic completely changes your battle strategy. Hence, you can salvage a losing battle with a change in Tera type.
