Blurry graphics are one of the most frustrating issues that gamers can encounter in a new game, and unfortunately, it’s happening to Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 players. Since it’s a visually beautiful title, there are a few things you can do to improve the visual clarity from your end until the devs resolve the problem.
Already tried high settings (especially if your PC has good specs) but still seeing blurry textures? You’re not alone. Here are some more things you can try out.
Blurry Graphics in Space Marine 2
The developers have released a hotfix 2.1 that addresses various crashing issues as well as optimizes CPU behavior on high-end CPUs, but the blurry graphics and textures are still very much there. Players report that the patch helped a little bit, however, more optimization is needed.
There are mods on Nexusmods such as this one, which disables Vignettes, Screen FX, Distortion, Chromatic Aberration, Lens Distortion, and more, but use it at your own risk, only after reading all the important information on the page. Mods are bannable if you use them for online play, so you can choose to wait until blurry graphics in Space Marine 2 are officially fixed without worrying about bans.
One thing to note is that you should have the game installed on an SSD because it might just solve the textures issue while also preventing cutscene freezing and game crashes.
Under the Video Settings in-game, you will find options for Resolution Upscaling including TAA, FSR, and DLSS. According to the Saber Support page, DLSS2 and FSR2 are available at launch, while DLSS3 and FSR3 are planned for a post-launch update. Please note that Raytracing and HDR are not supported.
Thanks to extensive testing by YouTuber BenchmarKing, here are the recommended optimized settings for PC:
- Texture Filtering: Ultra
- Texture Resolution: High (Recommended for 8GB GPUs)
- Shadows: Medium
- SSAO: Default (For DLSS), High (For FSR/TAA)
- Screen Space Reflection: Default
- Volumetrics: Low
- Effects: Low or Medium
- Details: Medium or High
- Cloth Simulation: Low
BenchmarKing’s findings indicate that at native resolution, FSR2 performs significantly better than TAA and DLAA/DLSS. Currently, DLSS is unusable because of its excessive blurriness.

There’s another way to disable Chromatic Aberration and Lens Distortion, but that requires you to mess with the game’s installation folder and disable the Easy Anti Cheat (EAC), which means you can’t play online. Here’s how you can modify the game files, but proceed only if you know what you’re doing and how to revert if things go wrong.
Hopefully, newer patches will fix the blurry graphics in Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 soon. If you’re playing on a widescreen monitor, here’s what you need to know about Space Marine 2 getting ultrawide support.
