The Slitherfang is a big & fast Metal Snake that can and will do everything to kill you. Keeping that in mind, you will want to keep your distance from it and take cover whenever you can. Especially from its Metal Fangs & Acid attacks. If you have scanned one with your Focus, you will be able to see in your Notebook that Frost Damage, Fire Damage, & Plasma Damage are its weaknesses & Shock Damage, Purgewater Damage, & Acid Damage are its Strengths. The Slitherfang is Horizon Forbidden West uses a few moves and here is what you must do to counter them.
- Keep Your Distance –
This is true for many creatures in Horizon Forbidden West but for the Slitherfang it is a mandatory thing. It is fast and will dash into you. A Sharpshot Bow or a Spike Thrower is your best bet against this oversized Metal Cobra. - Always Take Cover –
Keeping in mind from what I have mentioned above, always take cover whenever possible. The Slitherfang in Horizon Forbidden West can fire Acid Attacks or Lightning. In any case, you don’t want to get hit by them. So take cover, may it be a Tree, Boulder, or a pebble. - Dodge Everything –
This feels like a repetitive point but avoiding any of its attacks is necessary. Taking cover is good to avoid the attacks but what about the Slitherfang itself? Hence, always be ready to dodge from it as it can be on top of you in mere seconds.

The Metalbite Sac is its main Weapon as it contains Acid, eliminating it will make your life easier. You can do this by shooting them with a Sharpshot Bow or Spike Throwers. For the Earthgrinders, whenever it displays its Fangs, the Earthgrinders are exposed. They are cylinders that sit right above the Metalbite Sac. This will deal a lot of Damage to the Slitherfang in Horizon Forbidden West. So shoot it a few times.
