How to Stop the Windmill & Rescue the Gnome in Baldur’s Gate 3

As soon as you approach the Windmill, a conversation with the Goblins will ensue. They will either try to extort money from you or threaten to tie you up with the Gnome on the blade. You can choose a no-nonsense method by simply killing all the Goblins in a fight. However, the better method to handle this situation is by using the Persuasion Charisma check. This will force the Goblins to think that they can choose a weaker target. They will immediately leave the area which will allow you to rescue the Gnome in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Before leaving the area, he will mention that you can have the contents of his backpack as a reward. However, he will not describe its location. To find the Gnome’s backpack, go around the back of the windmill again. Here, you will be able to locate a hatch that leads to the windmill cellar. Once you are inside, you will find the Gnome’s Heavy Backpack. It will contain:

  • x1 Smokepowder Satchel
  • x4 Gold
  • x2 Red Apples

Along with the backpack, you will find a Heavy Chest inside, so make sure to loot it before heading back out.
