Here is how you can fix the stuttering & bad performance issues for the Witcher 3 Next Gen.

The Witcher 3 Next Gen update is here but many users face bad performance with it and need a fix. The problem came with its DX12 version, while it does give you features like DLSS, Ray Tracing, and more. It isn’t highly optimized. Thus there are several issues you might face when playing. So in this guide check out how to fix the Stuttering & low FPS issues in the Witcher 3 Next-gen update.

Here are some things you should try to solve issues like low FPS, black screen, and game stuttering.

  • Disable Ray Tracing: Ray Tracing can give you problems like the game crashing. And can even affect your performance so the best thing to do to get stable gameplay is to disable ray tracing and restart your game. The next time it starts you shouldn’t face such issues.
  • Use DX11: In case you don’t want to manually turn off Ray tracing then you can also choose to run the DirectX 11 version of the game. The catch is on the DX11 version you will miss out on some features like DLSS, HDR, Ray tracing, and more. But the game will overall give you much better FPS than when running on the DX12 version of the game.
  • Set the game to run on Full Screen: If you play Witcher 3 in Windowed mode you might face issues of frame drops or the game stuttering. And you can easily solve that by changing its display mode to Full Screen.
    1. Launch Witcher 3.
    2. From here, go to Options.
    3. Here, Choose Video then go to the Display tab.
    4. Finally, change the Display Mode to Full Screen from Windowed.
    5. Restart the game and check if you still get those issues.
  • Set FPS as Unlimited: Keeping an FPS limit might not be the best idea as it can give performance issues at times. The best thing to do would be to set it as Unlimited.
    1. Launch Witcher and go to Options.
    2. Select Video and go to the Display tab.
    3. The fourth option here will be Maximum Frames Per Second. Change it to Unlimited from whatever number it currently is.
    4. Restart the game after changing these settings to let them take effect.

In case the above fixes don’t work, then try updating your Graphics Drivers. Also, make sure you install any Windows update if there is some available.
