Although chaotic, Diablo 3 players could trade any Legendary Gear with real-life money at the Auction House. Since this went against the core gameplay of Diablo, many players were curious whether the Auction House will turn up once more with Diablo 4. Whether you like this trading market or not, there is no denying that the game was turning into a pay-to-win one with this. So if you are curious if the developers have kept this game mechanism in the latest Diablo installment or not, we recommend you keep reading below.
Is the Auction House Returning in Diablo 4?
No, the Auction House won’t be there when Diablo 4 launches and players won’t be able to purchase Legendary gear like before. The core element of Diablo games involve beating the enemies to farm better gears and since the trading market allowed players to purchase anything, it was ruining the fun of the game. Back in December, Rod Fergusson, one of the developers at Diablo confirmed with a tweet that there were no plans for the Auction House to return in the new installment. You can check out the tweet below.
No plans for an auction house

Many Diablo 3 players have simply bought the gear necessary to reach the top and this goes against the core gameplay of Diablo. As a fan of the game myself, I would prefer that there would be no Auction House in Diablo IV and it seems that is what will happen. Do keep in mind that there will be certain items that players can trade in the game that includes stuff like Potions, Elixirs, and Gold. Since Legendary items and premium currencies cannot be traded in Diablo 4, the game will stay true to its core and avoid the pay-to-win function.
That’s all there is on the Auction House in Diablo 4. While you are here, check out how to Co-op or Crossplay, full trophy list, and other Diablo IV guides right here at Gamer Tweak.
