So let’s check out how we can find Pteranodon and tame it in Ark.

It is quite difficult to tame most dinosaurs in Ark and Pteranodon is no exception. You need a few items, weapons, consumables, and maximum effort. Check out this list to know what you must carry:

  • Bow or Crossbow
  • Tranq Arrows
  • Pteranodon Saddle
  • Reusable Bola
  • Narcotics (keep high quantity)
  • Raw Meat (keep high quantity)

Since the item list is quite difficult to collect for starters, we recommend you are at least level 38 when you go to tame Pteranodon. You can find them in the air, usually above water bodies. They like to land from time to time on the shore and that is your window to catch them.

So now you have the list of items needed, here are the steps to tame a Pteranodon in Ark Survival Evolved:

  • Make sure you spot which level Pteranodon you want to tame and keep an eye on it. If you don’t have a Spyglass, you can move closer as they are not spooked by you.
  • Once they land use the Reusable Bola to trap it in one position and then shoot it with the Tranq Arrows to render it unconscious.
  • As soon as it is down and unconscious, head over to its Inventory and force-feed Narcotics to keep it under.
  • Wait for the food level to drop and then put the Raw Meat in the Inventory and wait for it to feed.
  • Once it starts feeding, the taming percent on the bottom of your screen will start increasing.
  • Keep an eye on the Torpidity level. If it falls below half force-feed it more Narcotics to keep it sedated.
  • As its food level depletes more, it will keep eating the Raw Meat and soon will be tamed. You can then equip it with the saddle.

In case you find a shortage of Raw Meat, force-feed more Narcotics to it and quickly bring back some Raw Meat from nearby creatures.

That’s all you need from this guide on how to tame a Pteranodon in Ark. While you are here, make sure you check out Andrewsarchus Spawn Location, Desmodus Spawn Location, and other guides, tips, and tricks right here on Gamer Tweak.
