The Legend of Zelda series has a ton of games, among which many consider Twilight Princess to be the darkest. Additionally, if you have played any of the other games in the series you might want to give it a try. That’s why several players are wondering when will it be released on the Switch.
However, since there has been plenty of speculation and rumors for its port in the past, here is what its possible current release status is.
Will there be Twilight Princess on Switch?
There is no official confirmation from Nintendo whether the game will be released for Switch. However, considering that it has already been 6+ years since the release of the console at the time of writing this article and no news of a remaster, remake, or ports for it, it is unlikely it will be released at all.
Remember, this is just my speculation and nothing official. There is no particular reason for them to not release it this generation, as the HD versions of both Twilight Princess and Wind Waker already exist for the Wii U. So porting it for the Switch should be possible.
Another thing to remember is Jeff Grubb from Giant Bomb was right about the release of Metroid Prime Remaster for the Switch. During his talk about the Metroid Prime Remaster release, he also said we could expect the Twilight Princess and Wind Waker ports. So there is still a chance we may get it on Switch.
However, considering that Switch has been around for so long there are rumors and speculations by many for a new Nintendo console. However this isn’t confirmed either, as according to Shinya Takahashi, Nintendo Switch isn’t lacking. So there is still a chance the game may be released next year or in 2025, but there is a high chance we may see a new Nintendo console by then.
Finally, there are plenty of Zelda games that you can already play on the Switch aside from BotW and TotK with the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion pack. So one of the ways we may get these games is if they add a Gamecube section in the NSO Expansion.
