If you have played any of the older Legend of Zelda games you might be aware of Epona. It is a horse that has been in other games like Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, Twilight Princess and now you can even get her in BOTW. So in this guide let us take a look at how to get Epona in the Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (BOTW).

How to Get Epona in BOTW

In order to get Epona in BOTW, you will need to scan the Twilight Link Smash Bros Amiibo.

  1. Go to the game options.
  2. The first option here is amiibo, click on it and choose Use amiibo, and hit ok.
  3. Next in the game select the amiibo rune.
  4. Now scan the Twilight Link Smash Bros Amiibo on your Nintendo Switch.
  5. Once you do this the game should spawn Epona in front of you.

In case you are unable to summon Epona, that means you are in the wrong area and cannot summon her there. The best place to spawn Epona is summoning her near stables. Not only will this ensure your summon isn’t a failure, but will also make registering her super easy.

Some fun facts about Epona in BOTW, when you go to register her you’ll see that her Strength, Speed, and Stamina are all 5 stars. Her Temperament is also Gentle, and her bond with you will be maxed out. And while you can register her you cannot rename her.

An important tip here is, if you tried summoning her in a place where she couldn’t spawn, then reload your old save. This will allow you to use amiibo again on the same day instead of waiting. Unfortunately, the only way you can get Epona is by using amiibo and there is no location in the game where you can find her.

That sums up this guide on how to get Epona in Legend of Zelda BOTW (Breath of the Wild). Since you are playing Zelda BOTW be sure to check our guide on the best Zelda mods for BOTW.
