You might have to hold off on playing Baldur's Gate 3 on your Xbox until the save bug is resolved.
Baldur’s Gate 3, the winner of Game of the Year 2023, has finally released on Xbox Series X|S on December 7. While that is good news, what isn’t is the save file getting deleted bug. That’s right several players have reported an issue of their save games disappearing.
This is bad because you lose out on hours of your progress only to start over again. Luckily, the developers are working on a fix with Microsoft. So here is their update on the matter, and a few things you can do to prevent your saves from getting corrupted if you already have started playing the game.
Michael Douse, the Director of Publishing at Larian Studios updated that they are working on a second fix that should hopefully solve this problem. You can check out his tweet here. This is what he had to say:
“My team are very rightfully asleep but just to update you on the Xbox saves issue, we’re working with Microsoft on a second fix that should hopefully solve it. It’s looking optimistic. Not as simple as just patching the game itself, so kudos to the green team for being so on top.”
He also said that this shouldn’t be an issue on the retail versions of Xbox as long as its firmware is updated to the latest version. You can check out this in the follow-up tweet here.
