Where to Find Rime Beetle in MH Wilds

Updated Date :

In Monster Hunter Wilds, the Rime Beetle is an endemic lifeform that players can encounter and capture. These beetles are indigenous to cold environments and are mainly found in the Iceshard Cliffs region. You will need to locate and catch the Rime Beetle in MH Wilds during Samin’s Research Report Cont. Side Mission, so here’s what you need to know before you get started.

Rime Beetles are small insects known for their unique behavior of rolling snowballs, which can be used as ammo. Frostburst is a Slinger ammo imbued with the ice element that can be used to stagger a monster, so you might need to find them more than once.

If you’d manually like to explore a certain area, head to Area 2 and if you don’t see it, fast travel to a different region and come back to see if it has spawned.

Capturing the Rime Beetle

Once you see a Rime Beetle rolling up a snowball, you can catch it by using the Capture Net. Make sure the Capture Net is equipped before approaching the beetle. Note that if you interact with the beetle without the Capture Net, such as using the Slinger, it will result in collecting Frostburst ammo instead of capturing the creature.

Capturing a Rime Beetle is integral to completing the side mission titled Samin’s Research Report. This mission can be initiated by speaking with your Palico at the Base Camp. Upon successful capture of the beetle, you will be rewarded with:

  • 5 units of Honey
  • 10 Mandragoras
  • 100 Guild Points
