How to Upgrade Armor in Black Myth: Wukong
To upgrade your armor, you need to first complete multiple tasks. Doing them will eventually take you to the Zodiac Village blacksmith, Yin Tiger.
Here’s a quick step-by-step guide to get to him:
- Reach Zodiac Village: Progress through the story until you reach Chapter 3.
- Complete the quest: Find Chen Loong in the water (from the “North Shore of the Bitter Lake” shrine) and complete his quest to receive the Ruyi Scroll.
- Basically, after you defeat him, he will ask you for a medicine (Special-made Bone-Strengthening Pellet) which can be found with Xu Dog.
- If you haven’t met Xu Do in Chapter 2 yet, here’s a video that will show you the exact path you need to take.
- When you deliver the medicine to Chen Loong, you will be taken into the Ruyi Scroll to enter the Painted Realm.
- Locate Yin Tiger: He’s busy working in the Zodiac Village, Village Entrance, near the blacksmith shop. Speak with him and he’ll provide you with the option to upgrade your equipment.
- Pay the cost: Upgrading will require specific materials and a certain amount of Will. The cost will vary depending on the item’s rarity and the desired upgrade level.
The basic materials you need for upgrading are Will and Silk. Players can obtain Will by defeating enemies near shrines while Silk can be obtained after completing Chapter 1 and defeating enemies in Chapter 2. Uncommon armor requires these two resources, but rare armor also needs Cold Iron Leaves, Epic armor can be crafted with an additional material of Fine Gold Thread, and for Legendary armor, you also need a Celestial Ribbon.
- Cold Iron Leaves are dropped after defeating enemies like Frog Yaoguai Chiefs and Yaoguai Kings and if you’re lucky, you may find them in chests as well.
- Fine Gold Thread can be obtained when you defeat Cyan Loong Yaoguai King in Bitter Lake’s Turtle Island.
- Celestial Ribbon can be found after completing Chapter 4, opening up chests, defeating Erlang, the Sacred Divinity in Chapter 5, and the Keeper of the Flaming Mountains in Chapter 6.
