Summoning spirits is one of the coolest gameplay elements of all time in Elden Ring. You can summon assassins, wolves, sorcerers, and more to fight alongside you. But to do so, you need spirit ashes. As you use these spirit ashes, you can summon different spirits to your aid. You can give a boost to these spirits and make them more powerful by upgrading the spirit ashes. In addition to the buffs, upgrading the ashes can also increase the number of summoned spirits in some cases. So, here’s our guide on how to upgrade spirit ashes in Elden Ring.
How to Upgrade & Strengthen Ashes in Elden Ring?
Before we upgrade the ashes, we will have to complete a questline to unlock the upgrading process. It is called Spirit Tuning. Follow the mentioned below steps to unlock the spirit tuning.
How to Unlock Spirit Tuning?
- Head over to the Stormhill Shack in Limgrave region to the east direction of the Stormveil Castle.
- You will find Roderika at the Stormhill Shack asking for Chrysalids’ Memento.
- You can find Chrysalids’ Memento at the Stormveil Castle.
- Head to the second floor where you fought the Grafted Scion.
- If you haven’t defeated him yet, you can avoid fighting and get to the next room.
- You will find the Memento on top of the corpses.
- Head back to the Stormhill Shack and give a Chrysalids’ Memento to Roderika.
- As you give her Chrysalids Memento, she will shift to Roundtable Hold to find a better purpose in her life.
- Now, head to the Roundtable Hold and have a conversation with her.
- Once you have exhausted all of the dialogues with her, she will thank you and gift a Golden Seed for your help.
- Go to the Smithing Master, Hewg at the Roundtable Hold and interact with him.
- Select the About Roderika option and have a conversation with him about her.
- Now head back to Roderika again and select the “Tell her what the blacksmith said” option.
- Return to Hewg again and have a conversation about Roderika for the final time.
- You will ask Hewg if he would watch over her.
- Upon returning to Roderika, you will notice a Spirit Tuning option.
How to Upgrade Spirit Ashes in Elden Ring?
- Now as you have unlocked Spirit tuning, you can head to Roderika for upgrading the Spirit Ashes anytime.
- You can travel or fast-travel to Roundtable Hold to upgrade your spirit ashes from Roderika.
- You will need Grave Glovesport or Ghost Glovesport, and some Runes for spirit tuning.
- While Grave Glovesport is used to upgrade standard spirits, Ghost Glovesport can be used to upgrade stronger as well as elite spirits.
- You can find these materials in catacombs, tunnels, and dungeons.
- There are two tiers to each of these Glovesport materials.
