Fans of the Elden Ring series are in luck because a data miner reveals unused maps, tunnels, possible boss arena, and much more content that got cut from the main game. With Shadow of the Erdtree being around the corner several players have picked up the game again to polish their skills to be able to keep up with the new upcoming enemies.
While many may have gotten back to the game, a lot of the fans never really stopped playing or theorizing ever since the game’s launch. Be it secrets related to the game’s lore or stuff that had been cut related to cutscenes, mechanics, and more, there is so much stuff that we didn’t get in the released version it truly makes you wonder how the game would be had it been there on launch or maybe if it made its way back through the DLC?
Before we check these things out credit to YouTuber Sekiro Dubi for not only finding them but recreating and showcasing them in their video. I highly urge you to give the video below a check.
Let us start with Deeproot Depths, in the video we can see an alternate map connected by a river. This river connects to an elevator. This is just a part of it, the elevator takes you to the platform that is connected to a whole region which leads you to an even longer elevator that takes you all the way up to Consecrated Snowfield.
Then Sekiro Dubi also reveals a cut NPC Rhico and five lines of dialogue that they had. This leads us to the previously discovered unused Cataclysm mechanic. Basically, interacting with specific objects may lead meteorites to crash and that could change the landscape of the Lands Between completely. We have seen this mechanic work similarly before when you defeat Radahn and the crater opens the path to Nokron, Eternal City.
The reason this mechanic is important is because it would have affected Consecrated Snowfield. Going back to Radahn and Cataclysm, a crater that could have crashed in Caelid and would reveal a hole was also found. This hole connects to the underground region of Mohgwyn’s Palace.
Of course, Deeproot Depths has an entire cavern with ample area that could serve as a place for another boss fight.
It truly is impressive to see what all was not added to the game. Hopefully, a lot of these things return with the DLC or maybe Shadow of the Erdtree may open up further speculations on how everything else is connected. While you are here don’t forget to check the classic theory of whether we will get Miquella’s lore in the DLC.
