Shadow of the Erdtree DLC just got announced for Elden Ring and fans are speculating why it will have Miquella. He is easily one of the characters that have some of the most lore available and you barely encounter him in the game. And this is why Elden Ring might just treat the fans with more of Miquella in Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.
Will Shadow Of The Erdtree DLC Followup On Miquella’s Lore?
There is a high chance that Shadow of the Erdtree DLC follows Miquella’s story. While there has been no information aside from the only image teased by the developers. We have reasons to believe the DLC is about Malenia’s twin. Here are two major reasons why this might be true.
Starting with the name of the DLC, it is called Shadow of the Erdtree. This shadow could possibly be referring to the Haligtree created by Miquella. He did that in order to cure his sister’s Scarlet Rot and to grow old. It was supposed to be a replica of the Erdtree but failed when Mohg cut out Miquella from its roots. Thus leaving the Haligtree to rot, resembling or making it the Shadow of the Erdtree.
And the second reason is Miquella most likely is alive. After defeating Mohg you can find Miquella’s cocoon in the room where you fought him. While it appears lifeless, there is no suggestion that Miquella is actually dead. And based on the image for the DLC. The character that appears sitting on the horse that looks like Torrent. Has hair matching Miquella’s when we see him the first time in the opening cutscene of the game.
The DLC could be about Miquella awakening from his cocoon and seeing the destruction left behind by the Tarnished. So while you learn more about him, he could appear as the final boss of Shadow of the Erdtree.
