Make sure you turn off “Hurry”, which speeds up the clock speed to double. That should give you enough time to level up the items. You can also use Gains Boros, which has a good Growth stat, to speed up the leveling. Then, you can purchase Big Trouser from the character selection screen for 5,000 Gold.
Once you unlock this character, you can use several in-game items to increase its Greed stat. The Stone Mask passive item provides +10% Greed per level and you can increase it to level 5 to get +50%. Certain maps like The Bone Zone, Inlaid Library, Capella Magna, and more multiply your Gold gain so make sure you use this character there.
